Founded on 5 April 1856 and emancipated on 3 February 1873, Mococa is today a regional hub of around 69,000 inhabitants, with preserved heritage, complete urban infrastructure and an active development agenda.

1856
The town grew in the 19th century along the route between São Paulo and southern Minas Gerais, driven by coffee. From that period remain mansions, churches and cultural landmarks such as Cine Mococa, still alive in the city centre and central to local identity.



2018 · Brasil–África do Sul
In 2018, Mococa was established as a sister city of Dihlabeng, South Africa. This relationship strengthens institutional, cultural and economic exchange between the two cities and expands Mococa's international connections.




1953
Founded on 10 December 1953 and affiliated to FACESP, the Commercial and Industrial Association of Mococa represents companies of every size, maintains thematic councils, provides business services and runs both the Desenvolve Mococa programme and the COMEX department.
